Opinion piece/editorial

Is Animal Abuse Okay?
Imagine your pet or if you don’t have one your favorite animal getting brutally abused. Either for neglect or for a “moral” purpose. They are bleeding, burning, starving, or hurting in whatever punishment they are given. They are defenseless and there’s no sign for help. Obviously they cannot talk but they can do actions right? Yet, if they react or show any sign of rebellion they are determined to abusive maltreatment of a human being. This animal may be from a cute puppy to a wild rhino that are mistreated in many ugly ways. Animal abuse is clearly inhumane and unjustifiable.
Animal abuse is broken down into two main categories which are active and passive. Active abuse is intentional. In other words, meaning they kill and abuse animals for a specific desire. Such as, poaching an innocent animal for their tusk, fur, skin, or other valuable organs to a human being. The most ridiculous part of this sickening process is that the animals are savagely killed for a human’s possession. In China they are skinned alive. It takes some animals more than 20 minutes to die. In addition, over 100 million animals like rats, dogs, and mice are killed in United States laboratories for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing every year. This is very cruel to use these animals in such objective ways.
Passive abuse is the other main category known as neglect. This may be starving and recklessly not taking care of the animal. The majority of passive abuse is used towards dogs. They are carelessly neglected for no reason at all and left to survive in whatever will they still have. The Human Society of the United States report that U.S. shelters receive 6-8 million dogs and cats. It is inhumane of how many of these animals are left like a piece of trash and to die with no real existence of themselves. Not only dogs experience neglect but cats and other household animals do too. They may not be humans but they are life’s beautiful creatures of existence.
I literally hate any kind of animal abuse whatsoever. I hate for the fact that they are used as possessions and carelessly taken care of. They are literally like human beings. They breathe, eat, and have emotions. They may be the happiest and most hearted creature I’ve ever seen. Animals are truly amazing creatures of this world. They may also be a human’s best friend for crying out loud. I am just deeply disappointed with what humans have created for these precious animals. For example, we humans are the reason why many animals went extinct or are on the verge of extinction. Whether animal consumption, poaching, habit destruction, and the list goes on. I adopted three beautiful dogs who have a background history of animal abuse by their previous owners. I’m very happy to have them and do not regret one single bit of having them in my life. Humans should just take a step back and realize the cruelty and abuse towards animals.

Punishing an animal in any merciless act is absolutely inhumane and out of the question. This cruelty should not have existed and should not continue. Animals are like children of this life. Innocent and may be difficult at times but they continue and complete the life cycle. Maybe one day animal abuse will stop and not exist. But for now image your pet or favorite animal sleeping silently with no worries and no abuse
